A year later, Austrian Dominic Thiem defeated German local hero Philipp Kohlschreiber in a three-set final, which had to be completed on Monday due to rain on Sunday. Thiem remains the first Austrian to ever win a tournament on grass. In 2018, Swiss superstar Roger Federer triumphed in Stuttgart and reclaimed the top spot in the world rankings. His victory marked the beginning of his 310th week as the number one in the tennis world.
